Barokes’ Wines of the World Initiative launched with French Wines in a Can in Japan
Innovative Australian wine producer, Barokes will launch the first stage of their ‘Wines of the World’ initiative in July with the introduction of a premium range of French wines in a can in Tokyo in July.
Initially consisting of two wines, Sparkling Chardonnay Sauvignon Blanc and Sparkling Rosé, these wines have been produced and shipped from one of France’s premier wine growing regions, Bordeaux. Both wines have been sourced from the Languedoc-Rousillon region in the south of France and filled at the Vinsafe filling facility located in Bordeaux.
European Master of Wine, Philip Goodband, has overseen the wines sourcing, structuring and profiling to Vinsafe specifications. Additionally, Philip has endorsed these wines with tasting notes and his signature appearing on each of the cans. As a well known and respected wine identity throughout Europe and the UK, Counsellor to the Commanderie de Bordeaux, Chair judge at the International Wine & Spirits Competition and Life Member of the Champagne Academy, Philip’s participation and endorsement of these wines is considered a significant coup for Barokes as he is a keen advocate of the Vinsafe integrated wine packaging system.
Barokes CEO, Greg Stokes, commented “these two French wines in a can are the first stage in our Wines of the World initiative and we are delighted to be launching these in Tokyo next month. Our Australian wines in a can have been well received globally with much success and over 160 medals awarded to these wines at international wine competitions, including many Platinum, Best in Class, Gold, and Silver medals. However, more recently there has been a demand from global customers for Barokes wines from other well known wine regions such as France, Italy, Spain and Germany using the Vinsafe system. We are delighted that our first foray into international Wines of the World will be launched in one of our most important markets Japan and with our partner in Japan, Nihon Shurui Hanbai. We intend to extend this range with two more Bordeaux varieties in the near future and then wines from Spain and other European wine regions will follow.”
The launch of Barokes Wines of the World has been possible following the establishment of the Vinsafe supply chain in Europe through the appointment of Master of Wine, Philip Goodband and Ball Packaging Europe as a licensed Vinsafe can producer in 2011. They were quickly followed by the licensing and accreditation of filling facilities, Cacolac located in Bordeaux, and Font Salem located in Valencia, both licensed to fill wine in a can to globally patented Vinsafe specifications. Nihon Shurui Hanbai General Manager International Division, Kazuhiro Ogawa stated ‘we are proud to be the
first to receive Barokes’ French Wines and also pleased that Japan is the first country chosen by Barokes Wines for the launch of their Wines of the World. We look forward to introducing these wines to our customers and expect them to be very well received as all Barokes products are currently very popular with Japanese consumers.”
A launch event will be held in Tokyo on 12th July at chic bar Two Rooms located in the trendy fashion district of Aoyama (Omotesando). Approximately 100 invited guests are expected to attend this event and celebrate the launch of Barokes’ Wines of the World.
